Being Fearless
To blog or not to blog … that’s been a question for a long time. For years I resisted , thinking “no way … I’m too afraid.” But of what? Not having anything to say… having too much to say… not knowing how to put my thoughts down in any sort of interesting way? In the end, probably what most people feared before hunkering down to “just do it.” So, after a mild “stop being afraid” lecture from a blogging friend, words are being typed and sentences are being formed … by me!
Being a nature jeweler, living things and natural phenomena always inspire my work and they’ll likely inspire much of this blog. Lately I’ve been rather focused on the nutty animal “goings-on” in my backyard, so it seems only right that the critters in question get to pepper the blog as well. Maybe, over time, I’ll figure out a way to get those little denizens of the yard to help out with the actual writing too, but until then I hope that they are OK with my sharing their antics here … and with possibly being immortalized in a jewelry piece or two.
My hope is that interacting with you here will lead to a sharing of ideas, hopes, and passions (not to mention the occasional off the wall thoughts.) I look forward to hearing from you.
So … off we go. A blog is born.
You are right. I didn’t realize you were such an animal lover, but I should have known. I am just getting started.
Wonderful blog! You’re a really good writer and I immediately felt drawn into your stories and your musings. I love your work too! Thanks to Mary Ellen for telling me about you!
Thank you so much Mindie. It’s lovely to “meet” you and I’m happy to have you join in 🙂
Way to go on taking your first blogging step! You my dear are a fabulious story teller and have wonderful writing skills. This sounds so much like you. Love it! Looking forward to your next post! Fly like an eagle my friend!
Nice musings–I’m looking forward to reading more…it’s great to see that birds (and nature) are so important to you! (My first word was “bird” and I’ve been painting them since I was old enough to hold a brush!!)
That’s the coolest first word ever! I really wish I could say that was mine 🙂
You are a really really good writer! the picures are amazing. Now I want to blog. I never liked the word. I am going to try to forward this to my brother, who is the untimate birder.
Thank you so much Daren. I would be really interested in hearing his thoughts!
Love it. I feel like I’m visiting with you!
Yes, you are a birder now, Myriam. Perhaps in a few years, we can make an early Spring trip up to the U.P. to chart the returning bird migration. White Fish Point is one such location, but there must be plenty more.
Cheers, babygirl! 🙂
Congratulations Myriam! I am very proud of you for finally taking the leap, and proud too that you are now officially a “birder”. Have you started your life list yet? Good luck and keep blogging!
Oh my gosh… I am a “birder” now!! Woo hoo! A couple of days ago I caught the movie “The Big Year” on cable (a comedy about three birders competing to see the most species in one year (Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin)… cute movie, awesome birds!) It kind of made me want to be a true, full on birder, but alas I must take it slower (mortgage to pay and all that.) So I have to start a more realistic list for now.
Thanks for being my first 🙂
