What a Life (or… Finally the website is done!)

What a Life (or… Finally the website is done!)

I have been terribly remiss in posting and I have to admit that I’m surprised by how much I’ve missed it.  End of year “busy-ness” and a goal of re-doing my jewelry website kept me away from this blog.  But now that holidays have come and gone, and web-designing for the other site is finally done (hallelujah), this little corner of the internet calls me back.

During the period that had me hunkered down writing and editing code for my site, I would occasionally come up for air and gaze out my window.  At those times I found myself marveling at the simplicity of the lives of my backyard critters. Those furry and feathered friends file no papers, carry no wallets, don’t pay taxes, and know nothing of technology.  How I envy them at times. Having spent two thirty-plus consecutive hour stretches sitting in front of a computer trying to manipulate code, and countless ten to twelve hour stretches, I’m thinking that those animals’ lives sound pretty cushy right now.  Think about it… no rent or mortgage, in fact never having to pay a bill of any kind, not having to carry ID, not having to do dishes or laundry, no alarm clocks to set … are you getting the idea?

It’s pretty much this….

Squirrel just hanging out in tree

and this….

Mourning dove contemplating a nap

and, for heaven’s sake, even this…

Brighton duck full on napping at my feet!

Brighton duck full on napping… at my feet!

Wow… must be nice!  But… happily… my inability to do all of that “chilling” and “hanging out” did finally pay off.  My website is finally, yes finally, done!  (For now at least… I’ll be tweaking and adding more and more pictures and updating it forever I’m sure.)   I hope you’ll take a moment or two to check it out.  I’d love to hear what you think.

No house (have to build your own)
    No heat
    No health care
No protection from predators or mankind
No family to help you out (once you’re grown)
And you can do what they do (except fly) when you want, if you plan ahead.
I like it from where I’m sitting.

That’s totally awesome… and very true. Thanks for taking the animals’ side on this! I couldn’t help but nod the entire time.

Thank you, thank you. I’m most excited about your kind words re:the photography. Not being a real “photographer”, sharing my pics was a bit a scary at first. It’s nice to know they’re being well received.
